A Year of Transformation and HopePastoral Note from Rev. Seth Enriquez Dear St. George’s Family, As we approach the one-year anniversary of my time here at St. George in the Pines this Sunday 1 September, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the journey we’ve shared. Tell Me Strange Things...Come over on Sundays as we face the hardest sayings in the bible - Sunday, September 1, 2024 The encounter between Jesus and the Rich Young Ruler, as depicted in Luke 18:18-30, presents a profound challenge to our understanding of wealth and salvation. The notion that having money might hinder one's entrance into heaven can be unsettling and thought-provoking. How do we make sense of this message in our lives today? Join us this week as we confront this challenging aspect of Christian theology. Rather than shying away from the discomfort, let's explore the underlying principles and motivations behind the concept of hell. Together, we'll seek to understand how notions of judgement and salvation fit into a broader understanding of God's character and love for humanity. Through open dialogue and reflection, we may find that even in the midst of difficult truths, there is still hope and redemption to be found. Celebrant: Readings: 1 Timothy 6:6-10, 17-19; Luke 18:18-30 (Read now) Hymns: Christ Be Magnified (Listen now) Lord Whose Love in Humble Service (Listen now) Almighty God (Listen now) Trisagion (Listen now) Lift High the Cross (Listen now) To keep up to date with the new songs we're singing this year, listen to them on our church worship playlist here. God The Merciless: Judgement and HellTell Me Strange Things... - Sunday, August 25, 2024 Hell might seem out of place in a world where many believe that all paths lead to the same destination. But when we listen to Jesus, we can't overlook its reality. Jesus’ claim to be the only way to the Father suggests serious consequences for not following Him. So why does this idea make us uncomfortable? It can feel unfair, as if we expect everyone will naturally repent and be forgiven at judgment. But is that expectation realistic? What does Jesus actually say about our choices and the destinies we shape? Listen as we explore Jesus' teachings on hell and why they matter for our faith. We'll take a look at how His words reveal both God's justice and mercy and what they mean for us today.
